Event (volunteer management)
The Volunteer module of the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) brings together the full set of tools needed to manage the complete lifecycle of a volunteer application, from initial registration through to the publishing of assignments and performance tracking. It allows event administrators and managers to configure application requirements (number of committees to select, minimum required availabilities), process incoming applications, and assign volunteers to the appropriate committees and shifts.
Beyond registration, this module offers advanced operational management features: bulk publishing of assignments to reduce the volume of communications sent to volunteers, automatic detection of scheduling conflicts (consecutive or overlapping shifts) to prevent planning errors, and mechanisms for manually adding or removing committees when a volunteer's situation requires it. Managers also have evaluation tools available, allowing them to assign a rating of 1 to 5 stars, both by shift and by committee, in order to document volunteer performance across events.
Finally, the module includes traceability and review tools: an audit log detailing every change made to assignments, as well as a consolidated view of a member's participation history across all seasons.
The articles that follow present, step by step, the configuration and use of each of these features, from creating an application through to analyzing results.
