Season view

The season view is a birds eye view of all the teams playing in your schedule along with the number of games remaining to be scheduled for the whole season. This is the infamous Richard view that we’ve collaborated with him to create.

With this view, we can quickly see the progress of the amounts of games left to be scheduled. Each column represents a team in the schedule, and each row represents a date that has an event. In each cell, we show all the available home and away time slots that you can schedule a game for that team, and also any scheduled games, practices or activities.

In the next iterations, the game list will be added to allow you to drag and drop games onto the grid. Also, clicking on a time slot will allow you to pick an available opponent based on unscheduled matchups, which will then schedule that game. Scheduled tournaments and availability will also be shown.

Month view

By default, when no game is selected, the month view shows all the games in the game list. If you click on a game in the list without a date, you’ll be presented with a month view that’s filtered to only show events related to the two teams of that game.

The goal of the month view is to determine the game date, and help the league navigate team constraints like when the teams are playing other games, when they’ll be participating in other tournaments, or even travelling to nearby associations to optimize travel. The league also needs to navigate surface constraints, so they need quick answers to questions like what days does this team have available time slots, or what teams have the greatest and least number of time slots that I need to prioritize by.

If you have a game without a date, you’ll be able to drag and drop it from the list onto a date, which will automatically set the date and switch to the day view. Alternatively, the calendar shows “n home slots” or “n away slots” which you can click on to show the available time slots. Selecting a slot will confirm that you want to schedule the selected game on that time slot.

Week view

The week view is very similar to the month view, but provides a better time-based visual.

Naturally the shortcoming of the week view is that a lot of overlapping can occur when games are at the same time but different venues, which is solved by the day view.

Day view

The day view requires a selected game, so make sure you do that first. If you have games in the list with a date but no time slot, selecting the game will automatically switch to the day view.

This view looks very similar to the week view, but instead of weekdays, the columns will show you the home team’s surfaces. A surface can be missing for one of the following reasons:

  • The surface is not in the association’s list of surfaces on the office page

    • It is, but there’s a division restriction set and the game’s schedule does not match it

  • The surface size is being filtered out by the view options (top right menu), which is defaulted in the schedule settings

Each column will show you every single game, practice, availability and time slot happening on that day, even if it’s outside of the league office, to give you the full context of what’s happening so you can make sure you’re scheduling at the most optimal time.

When you drop a game into a time, there’s a confirmation dialog that will show so you can be sure you dropped it on the right time. If you dropped a game over a time slot, the time will automatically snap to that time slot. Otherwise, you can adjust the game time by +/- 5 minutes to fine tune the time. If the game has any conflicts, the dialog will bring this to your attention and make sure you set the conflict status.
