New Features

Block duplicates in registration mode

A new validation process has been introduced to prevent parents from creating duplicate profiles. During the registration process, parents attempting to create a profile with exactly matching first name, surname, and date of birth will be blocked and receive the following error message:

 An error occurred

A participant with the correct first name, last name, and date of birth already exists in Spordle ID. Please contact your association or organization to access your existing profile or to create a new one.

Registrars will be able to search for the duplicate and determine whether it's the same person or not, and transfer or create a new profile if necessary (with the same first name, last name, and date of birth).

New question in registration

As an organization, Hockey Canada needs to know how many participants are new Canadians in order to direct marketing and programs accordingly.

If a registrant selects anything other than Canada as their Country of Birth in their registration, another drop-down menu will be displayed asking:

  • In what year did you move to Canada?

The answer is the same as for Year Moved In, where you can only select one year.

Changing the waiver response

Many users have asked to be able to modify the response to a signed waiver. The user will be able to modify the response at any time in HCR. However, he must use the same identity that was used to sign the waiver. No other person will be able to request a modification to the response.

The user will not be able to cancel the waiver but only modify the value of the response. There will be no impact on the teams.

Minimum and Maximum Age

Hockey Canada has reviewed the divisions, classes and categories that will be available for the 2024-2025 season. As of this season, no organization other than Hockey Canada will be authorized to modify or create a division, class or category.

In order to allow MHA to open registrations for a specific age group, we have added minimum and maximum age ranges to the registration fees page. When you select the division to which you wish to add fees, the two fields below will be displayed.

These fields are optional. If you leave them blank, the system will use the age of the division. If you want to limit registration fees to a specific age range, you can do so by defining minimum and maximum ages. These values will be roll over from season to season.

Updates and Improvements

Age display

Age display has been improved in some HCR views. When launching a new season, many users wonder why the age is not calculated correctly. This problem is linked to the fact that not all regions start their registrations at the same time.

To avoid this problem and offer a solution that works for everyone, the display has been updated. From now on, the age as of the current day, as well as the age as of the reference date of the current registration season, will be displayed.

This is a display change only; we have not modified any rules related to the registration process. The same information in different views will be displayed in the system over the coming weeks.
