Open Player Movement
Open Player Movement is the process by which a branch, region, or member partner authorizes players to register with the organization of their choice for a given season. This process allows players to move freely within a given territory. The Open Player Movement parameters must be activated for the process to work. In the case of inter-regional or inter-member-partner movements, both organizations must be activated. Inter-branch movements are not subject to the Open Player Movement process. At the end of the season, the player returns to their original organization, region or member partner.
Steps to Follow for Open Player Movement
1. Activate Movement in the Branch, the Region or Member Partner Settings
Ensure movement is activated in the branch, the region or the member partner settings. Each organization should activate the settings if the movement occurs between two or multiple branches, regions or member partners.
Navigate to Settings > Teams > Restrictions.
Restrictions can be applied at the division level or, for more specificity, at the category level.
In the Restrictions section:
Set Enable Open Player Movement (OPM) to Yes (default setting is No).
Restrict the Transfer Request Period by defining start and end dates.
If no date is set, the registration won’t be added to the online store, and no movement will be authorized for this division or category.
In general, restrictions will be set at the division level. However, if a branch, a region or a member partner wishes to specify further (e.g., House League, Select, or Rep), they should set restrictions at the category level.
2. Open Online Store and Registrations
Ensure the online store is active and registrations are open to facilitate player movement.
Postal code validation is possible if an association wishes to offer its members and local players priority registration.
This validation can be activated or deactivated by online store
Once the movement has been completed, the player will be shared with the new organization he registered for one year. This share will end at the end of the affiliation year, and the member will return to his original organization. However, for Open Player Movements under OHF, the member's primary organization will be the member partner, and the new organization will be shared. At the end of the affiliation year, the member will return to the partner member. The following year, if he joins his local association, it will become his primary organization, but if he joins another organization of his choice, there will be a new share.
